An original Belstaff motorcycle jacket dating from the 1950s and in good condition.
This style of imitation leather jacket was highly popular with motorcyclists during the 1950s and 1960s. During this period many people rode motorcycles as an everyday transport and therefore needed good quality, weatherproof clothing. These 'pleather' jackets were ideal for this as they were highly waterproof whilst still retaining the classic motorcycle look.
This example features a sheepskin lining to the interior and to the collar. The front fastens with an 'Aero' branded zipper which is a period replacement. The two front pockets also have zips made by 'Kyhook'. Side adjusters are fitted to the waist and the cuffs feature a fur trim.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and reads 'Belstaff Guaranteed Weatherwear' and features typically period graphics of a bell behind the maker's name.
The jacket is a larger size which will suit a 40" - 42" chest well. When laid flat it measure -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 25"
Length - 28"
Shoulders - 19"
The jacket is in good condition overall and is still very wearable. There are some signs of age and wear but overall it is a nice jacket which displays well. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original 1950s motorcycle jacket with a great label!
