An original American made men's single breasted overcoat made by 'Boyd's' in the 1950s.
This style of coat was extremely popular with American men throughout the 1950s and is still a classic silhouette today. The coat features a single breasted front, notched collar, patch pockets and turn back cuff detail and is made from a lovely herringbone check material. The interior of the coat features a partial lining below which is a striking, electric blue coloured overcheck.
The interior also features the makers label which bears the makers name of 'Boyd's' and the place name of 'St Louis'. Inside the interior pocket is a second similar label and a union label which dates the coat to being made between 1949 and 1961.
The coat is a medium size which will suit around a 40" chest. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22 3/4"
Inside arm - 17 3/4"
Outside arm - 26 1/4"
Shoulders - 19 1/4"
The coat is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. It is still very wearable but does have some small flaws to the exterior which are only noticeable on close inspection. The lining is mostly good although there is wear across the shoulders and some replacement panels have already been added (picture 11.) Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn coat.
A nice original 1950s overcoat in a great fabric.
