SOLD

An original 1940s Men's double breasted overcoat by 'Redmayne' in a fantastic teal colour.

This overcoat is typical of those made in the late 1930s and 1940s. It is made from a thick teal coloured wool which has a deep pile to it and has typical 1940s overcoat features including a double breasted front and a large waist belt with leather covered buckle. It has a notched collar, slash pockets to the hips and a turnback cuff.

The interior of the coat is fully lined with rayon which is again typical to find on coats of this period. The original maker's label is present below the inner pocket and reads 'Redmayne' - a lesser encountered british manufacturer.

The coat is cut in an oversize way and was originally designed to be worn over a suit. It will suit someone of around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 46"

The coat is in good condition and it displays well. All the original buttons are intact and there are no signs of serious wear or damage. There are a few moth nips which are only noticeable on close inspection, some light staining etc. This is not a perfect item but a pre-owned vintage coat which is over 70 years old and therefore may have other small issues commensurate with its age. Please study the pictures before puchasing.

All in all a very nice coat cut from a fantastic cloth and with some typical period details. This would make a great addition to any collection or wardrobe without a doubt!
