Original 1940s German Black Moleskin Workwear Chore Jacket

A fantastic original German Chore Jacket made from a black moleskin material during the 1940s.

This type of jacket is synonymous with northern European artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period and is arguably the most iconic jacket ever produced in France. Based on the buttons, this example originates from Germany.

The jacket is made from a lovely black coloured moleskin material which is heavy yet soft to the touch and has a sheen to it. The collar of the jacket is typical in shape and size of those found on 1930s and 1940s chore jackets. The jacket features a small patch pocket to the breast and two larger patch pockets to the skirt. All the buttons are metal examples which are typical of German workwear items from this period and feature three holes rather than four.

The jacket is a large size which will suit a 44" chest well. When laid flat it  measures -

Chest - 25”
Inside arm - 18”
Outside arm - 24 1/2”
Shoulders - 21 1/2”
Length - 29”

The condition of the jacket is reasonable considering it is a vintage work piece. It has some flaws and defects including wear to the cuffs as pictured. There are also some period repairs and other signs of wear and age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn workwear jacket which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A good original example with lots of character and made from the highly desirable black moleskin material.
