An original French chore jacket made in blue sanforized cotton during the 1940s.

Blue work jackets are synonymous with French artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period and are arguably the most iconic jacket ever produced in France. This example is a classic 'bleu de travail' cotton jacket with a three button front and long sleeves which end in a barrel cuff. Three patch pockets are located to the front of the jacket and there is also a single interior pocket. The collar shape is typical of those found on 1940s made examples and is much larger and features a more pronounced shape than those found on later jackets.

The jacket is a medium size which will suit a 40" chest well. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 28"

The jacket is in well worn condition as can clearly be seen in the pictures. There is various staining as well as wear to the cuff opening. There are some nice period repairs and a small tear to the bottom of the right front pocket. Whilst far from perfect the jacket is still very wearable and has its own unique character. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A really great 1940s French jacket with some fantastic details and repairs.
