An original pair of women's cotton twill breeches made in France and dating from the 1940s.
These Breeches were clearly intended as a sporting item originally with this style being popular during the 1930s and 1940s for a range of sports and outdoor activities. Made from a khaki tan coloured cotton twill, these breeches were clearly designed to be hard wearing. They feature a side buttoning closure as was usual for women's clothing in this period and have buttons to close the leg around the calves. They feature an interesting rear belt which starts on each hip and forms something similar to a cinch-back, a popular design feature in the pre-war period.
The original label is still present and features typically period graphics. The makers name of OCH is present as are the words 'Sports Qualite'
When laid flat the breeches measure -
Waist - 28 1/4"
Inside leg - 27 1/2"
Cuff - 6"
The breeches are in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. There is a very small amount of stitching lost to the seat but only to one of the two layers of stitching meaning there is no hole. There is also an anomaly to the inside leg seam. Both of these are detailed in the pictures and are only noticeable on very close inspection. Overall they present very well.
A nice original piece of early women's sportswear which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection.
