An original men's collared shirt made in France in the 1940s.
This style of shirt was popular in rural France during the 1930s and 1940s. It features a spearpoint collar as was popular during this period and a half-placket front. It is made from a light weight wool cotton mix and features a needle stripe pattern on an white field. Sections of the shirt have been replaced with contrasting pieces of similar fabric which are different colours. These have been added in the traditional French manner and give the shirt real character and history.
The shirt will fit someone with around a 38" - 40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
Length at back - 37"
Collar - 15 1/2"
The shirt is in used condition with limited signs of wear and age. It has various original period darns and repairs as well as wear including around the collar. Overall it displays well and is in wearable condition but please study the pictures carefully to get a good idea of the condition.
