Original 1940s French Men's Single Breasted Jacket

SOLD

An original black men's suit jacket which was made in France during the 1940s.

This jacket may have originally been part of a suit or could have been worn with morning dress. This style is sometimes referred to as a 'Stroller' jacket and would have been a common sight during its day. It features a three button front and pronounced lapel shape and padded shoulders which give it a typical 1940s French silhouette. It has no rear vent which is another trait of jackets from an earlier period. The jacket features a welt pocket to the chest and flapped pockets to the skirt as well as a three button, non-functioning cuff.

Inside the jacket features a full lining and two interior pockets. The sleeves are lined with a contrasting white with black polka dot material which is a nice feature.

The jacket will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 16 3/4"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 28 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are some signs of wear and use which are to be expected with a vintage piece such as this. There is a small hole to the left sleeve as illustrated in picture 5. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

All in all a nice original jacket which is a classic French shape.
