An original pair of French workwear trousers made in the 1940s and with some incredible patch repairs.
These trousers are typical of those worn by men in France in the Mid-century period and were popular with farm workers, labourers and artisans amongst many others. They are cut with a wide leg and mid rise as was the fashion during this period. They feature a separate waistband which has belt loops whilst the fly fastens with buttons. The rear of the trousers features a single pocket which fastens with a button.
The trousers feature some incredible patch repairs, fades and darning which are testament to how many years they were worn for. The original part of the trousers have faded to a very light colour with long exposure to sunlight whilst the patches contrast against these in deeper tones of blue. There are some lovely darned repairs, particularly to the right pocket which is very intricate.
The trousers will suit a 32" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16"
Rise - 13"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 24"
Outside leg - 36"
Cuff - 10"
The trousers are in well worn condition with plenty of signs of wear, use and fading. Overall they are still wearable and are still very wearable but please study the pictures and remember that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage work trousers which may have other small issues consummate with their age.
A one of a kind piece of workwear which is so typical of French clothing from this period.
