An original Women's jacket made in the 1940s as part of the CC41 utility scheme in the UK.
This jacket bears the 'Super Utility' label which is often called the 'dinner plate' label. It was used on garments which were of a higher quality than the standard CC41 items which make anything carrying this label sought-after and highly collectible today.
The jacket is made from a fine black coloured wool and features a typical 1940s silhouette. The front fastens with a single button and it features a lovely pocket detail to the skirt which has a whole separate piece of material as an external pocket bag. The cuff features a button detail which does not fasten.
The interior of the jacket is fully lined with a rayon material and a hanging loop is fitted at the neck. The utility label is present as is another larger label which bears the words 'Fashion Sport'.
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 17 1/2"
Waist - 13 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 14 1/2"
Length - 22"
The jacket is in reasonably good condition but has various small holes which I have attempted to detail in the pictures. Whilst it is far from perfect, it is still a very wearable jacket with no serious damage or major flaws. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which has some flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original super utility jacket with some great details.
