An original 1940s childs sweater made as part of the CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons.
The jumper is made from a red coloured wool and us machine knitted. It features long sleeves and a stand and fall collar which features a pattern detail in grey. There is a short opening below this at the neck which fastens with red coloured platic buttons.
Inside the jumper the original label is still present and bears the CC41 logo. The original cardboard label is also still present and bears the sie of 3.
When laid flat the jumper measures -
Chest - 10" (pulls to 11"
Inside arm - 9 1/2"
Outside arm - 9 1/2"
Shoulders - 10"
Length at back - 16"
The jumper is in good condition and is clearly an unworn, deadstock item as indicated by the fact it still retains its card label. There are som marks to the sleeves however which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price.
A nice original 1940s item with the highly collectible CC41 label.
