A stunning original 1940s men's overcoat in a striking deep blue colour.
The coat is typical of the 1940s featuring a double breasted front with wide button stance, large patch pockets to the front and a waist belt which is made from matching material. The leather covered metal buckle which is typical of the era as are the contrasting butterscotch coloured buttons. The coat is made from a deep ile blue coloured wool which features a subtle red coloured overcheck which is very soft to the touch.
The interior of the coat features a full lining of grey coloured rayon which is quilt and testament to the high quality of this coat. Usually coats from this period have a simple rayon lining but this example is quilted which gives the coat extra weight and warmth. There are two interior pockets but no labels.
The coat will fit up to a 42" chest with ease due to being cut in a loose, over-size manner and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 27 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 50"
The coat is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of wear and use and overall it is very wearable and displays very well. It is a vintage, pre-owned item which has been worn so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
