A fantastic original american made cotton summer jacket, dating from the 1940s and in good condition.
This jacket is loosely modeled on American military jackets, such as the M41, from the WW2 period. This style was very popular as a casual jacket throughout the decade and was often worn with slacks of a contrasting colour but will also look good with jeans. It features a khaki coloured cotton shell, angle slash handwarmer pockets and a small, buttoning pocket to the breast. A high quality metal 'Talon' branded zipper closes the front and there is a tab detail to the end of each sleeve. The jacket also features American military style epaulettes which are close in design to those seen on officers shirts and tunics from the same period.
The rear of the jacket is really fantastic. It features a half belt with buckles to each side as well as a pleated action back - A true 'fancy-back' jacket!
The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest and up to a 38", depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 23 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition and is still totally wearable. It does have some staining to the body and around the inside edge of the collar as well as some fraying to the cuffs, part of which have been sured-up with a few stitches. It is a vintage, pre-owned jacket which has been worn and due to its light colour this is evident. None-the-less it still looks great and looks to have plenty of life left in it. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
A cracking original 1940s jacket with some stunning and sought-after period details.
