An original men's trilby hat dating from the 1930s and in good condition.
Hats were highly popular during the pre-war period and were a common sight in both town and country. Trilbys such as this were a particularly fashionable item in the 1930s when this example was made. It is made from a brown coloured fur felt material which is typical of the era and features a very high crown which is a common trait with pre-war hats. It also features a deep, brown coloured grosgrain hat band.
Inside the hat features a full lining and a leather sweatband. Both of these feature the maker's name of 'Woodrow & Sons' as well as the supplier's name of 'Keith Scott' of Dundee who are still in business today. The Royal Cypher is also present and bears the words 'By appointment to the late King George V' which dates the hat to the middle late 1930s.
The internal circumference of the hat measures 22" so it will fit a UK 6 7/8 or 56 well.
The hat is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. Overall it displays very well with no serious flaws or damage but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A very nice 1930s hat which is very nicely made and typical of the era.
