An original French corduroy work jacket dating from the 1930s which is a large size 44" chest.
This style of jacket was very popular with labourers and artisans in France during the mid Century period. The work jacket silhouette is synonymous with French workers of the 20th Century and has become a classic and timeless style.
The jacket is made from a heavy weight brown coloured corduroy material which is typical of the period. It is cut in the classic chore jacket style with a single breasted five button front. The collar is again typical of the period in shape and fastens with a metal hook and eye which is a nice period detail. There is a single pocket to the chest and flap pockets are located to the skirt. Inside the jacket is lined with a plaid checked wool material in blue which contrasts nicely against the exterior brown colour.
The jacket is a larger size which will suit around a 44" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 21"
Length at back - 28 1/2"
The jacket is in well worn condition as is illustrated in the pictures. There are numerous repairs, particularly to the sleeve where there is also a hole (picture 14). There is another repair to the front (picture 6 and the lining shows heavy wear. This is a vintage, pre-worn jacket so may have other small issues commensurate with age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A well worn workwear jacket with lots of character and classic French workwear charm.
