A great pair of original 1930s French cinch back work trousers in a heavy striped wool fabric.
These trousers are typical of those made in the 1920s and 1930s in France featuring a flat front, a button fly with a hook and eye closure to the top, brace buttons and a wide leg. The positing of the brace buttons is typical of pre-war French workwear as are the straight slash pockets on each hip with that lovely stitching detail which is again so common during this period. All the original metal buttons are present and the original lining is present and in good condition.
The trousers are a larger size and will suit around a 36" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 18"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 41 1/2"
Cuff - 8"
The condition of the trousers is good and they certainly still have plenty of life left in them. There are a number of age related flaws though which can be seen in the picture. There is wear to the front of the trousers which looks to be from use and also an area of damage to the rear. In my opinion all this really adds to the character of the piece but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage workwear piece with some issues commensurate with age.
All in all a really nice pair of pre-war French work trousers which look great on!
