A great original men's single breasted lightweight summer jacket made in northern Europe in the 1930s.
This style of jacket was popular during the pre-war period during the hot summer months. The details would suggest that this example was made in Germany, or possibly a neighbouring country. The jacket is made from a light coloured, open weave fabric and features fantastic patch pockets with inverted box pleats. Contrasting butterscotch coloured buttons have been fitted throughout and there is a hanging loop to the neck. Inside the jacket is a stamp which I have not positvley identified. It may be Italian or possibly French.
The jacket will fit someone of around a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 26 1/2"
The jacket is in well worn condition with signs of age and use. There are some nice periods and also some staining and areas where the fabric has bobbled. The jacket is very wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item.
A nice original summer jacket with great pockets and made in an interesting fabric.
