An original pair of cream coloured twill summer trousers made by 'Austin Reed' in the 1930s.
These trousers would have been worn for sports or as casual wear during the 1930s. This style of trousers was more often than not made from wool flannel which makes these interesting being made from a twill. They are cut in a typical manner for the period with a high rise waist and wide leg with turnup to the cuff. The fly fastens with buttons and the front of the trousers feature just a single pleat. There is a separate waistband with belt loops and waist adjusters are located to each hip. The rear of the trousers features a single rear pocket which is a typical feature to find on British trousers from this era.
Inside the trousers the original label is still present and features the classic Austin Reed graphics. The date of the 40th week of 1932 has been added in ink to the right hand bottom corner.
The trousers will suit a person with a 36" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 18"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A rare original pair of 1930s casual sporting trousers in a great fabric.
