An original pair of British made brown whipcord breeches dating from the 1930s.
This style of breeches was popular for a number of years and were worn for various sporting and country pursuits. They are made from a reddish brown coloured whipcord material as was often used for breeches due to its hard wearing nature. The fly fastens with buttons and there are more buttons around the top of the waist to which braces can be attached. Frog mouth pockets are located to the front along with a large ticket pocket. Belt loops are fitted around the waist and the calves are fastened with laces which appear to be original to the breeches. Reinforcement patches are found to the inside of each leg which is yet another common trait found on British made breeches.
The breeches will suit a 38" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 19 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 21 1/2"
Inside leg - 24"
Outside leg - 37"
Calf - 6 1/2"
Cuff - 5"
The overall condition of the breeches is good and they look to be very wearable. There is some staining and fading as is evident in the pictures but on the whole they are sound. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original pair of 1930s men's breeches in a harder to find large size.
