A scarce original pair of cream coloured wool men's trousers dating from the 1920s. This style of trousers is often referred to as 'Cricket Flannels' due to their association with the sport. They were in fact worn for various sports as well as for general summer wear and would have been a common sight at the time.
These trousers are made from a cream coloured flannel wool and are typical of the Edwardian period and 1920s featuring a flat front, high rise waist, fishtail cut to the rear and a narrow 9" cuff. The fly fastens with buttons and more buttons can be found at the waist to which braces can be fitted. The trousers feature slash pockets to the hips and no rear pocket. Interestingly for this period, the trousers feature belt loops which is an uncommon detail to find during this period. The flannels also feature two large waist adjusters which is a great detail.
The trousers will suit someone of around a 32" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 40 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The overall condition of the trousers is very good with some signs of wear and use. There is some staining etc which is evident in the pictures. Please study these and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers which are roughly 100 years old and may have small issues commensurate with age.
Altogether nice early pair of men's trousers with some great period details!
