An original women's workwear overall dress which was made by 'Supercraft' during the 1950s. It was made for the petrol company 'Shell' and features their white and red colours along with the company logo to the breast.
This style of overall dress was popular in the mid Century period for women as a more feminine alternative option to the standard all in one overalls. It is made from a white coloured sanforized cotton twill and features contrasting red cuffs and collar. It features a matching waist belt which features a Norfolk style double button fastening to the front which fastens with white coloured rubber buttons as were often used for workwear during this period. The front and cuffs also fasten with the same type of buttons and two patch pockets are located to the front at the top of the skirt. There is a breast pocket which features the Shell logo embroidered to it with the classic graphics used by this company.
Inside the dress there is a hanging loop located to the neck as well as the original label. It bears the maker's name of 'Supercraft of Oldham' in red on a white field.
The dress will suit around a 34" bust depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20"
Waist - 14 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 15"
Length at rear - 44 1/2"
The dress is in good condition with no serious flaws or damage. There are signs of age etc with some staining which is evident in the pictures. Overall it displays well and is totally wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre worn pair of trousers, which may have small issues commensurate with age.
