An original Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm C Type flying helmet dating from the Second World War.
This helmet features three goggle straps to the rear which denotes this as a wartime produced example. The five strap pattern which superseded this was introduced before the end of the Second World War confirming this as a WW2 item.
The overall condition of the helmet is very good and it displays well. The leather is still supple and all the pop studs work as they should. The ear pieces feature their original zips which function as they should and one retains its original leather pull tab. The leather exterior is good generally aside from some areas which are missing the chromed finish which is illustrated clearly in the pictures.
The interior of the helmet is also good showing signs of wear or use. The chamois is darkened in places from use which is typical of a helmet which has seen service use. There is a number 2 stamped in ink directly on the chamois which denotes the size.
Overall, a nice original wartime FAA C-type flying helmet which displays well.
