An original Royal Navy Ratings 'Jumper, Serge' with a bullion Stoker Second Class trade badge to the sleeve and in good condition.
This jumper is made from the standard dark blue serge wool and features a single thickness collar, a single interior pocket and it has reinforcing patches under the collar which dates it to post 1943. It also features a buttoning cuff meaning it is not a war austerity version.
The right sleeve bears a bullion Stoker Second Class trade badge and the original owner has marked his name under the collar which reads 'J. Walley'. The number 3 is also present which denotes this as his third set.
These jumpers are designed to be a tight fit worn close to the body. The jumper will most likely suit a 38" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 20 3/4"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length - 26 1/2"
The overall condition is good although there are some signs of wear and age. Please study the images before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A good original jumper with a nice original badge.
