An original Second World War period Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer's waistcoat in good condition.
This pattern of waistcoat was worn by Class I and Class III ratings for a number of years. The example features brass Kings crown buttons meaning that the original owner was either a confirmed Petty Officer or Chief Petty Officer. It also dates the waistcoat to being made and worn prior to 1952.
The waistcoat is made from a black coloured serge wool and features a cotton back. There is no cinch back to the rear of the waistcoat in true utilitarian style. The inside of the waistcoat is lined with white cotton and the front fastens with 5 buttons.
The waistcoat is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 18 1/4"
Length - 22"
The waistcoat is in good condition with some signs of previous wear and use. There is some staining to the lining but overall it is a very sound and wearable item. Please study the pictures provided and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage item.
A nice original WW2 period waistcoat!
