Original 1950s Royal Marines Khaki Drill Shorts - Size 2

Original 1950s Royal Marines Khaki Drill Shorts - Size 2

Code: 52679

SOLD

An original pair of British made Royal Marines Khaki Drill shorts dating from the 1950s and in good condition.

The construction of these shorts is typical of those dating from the 1940s and 1950s being made of a khaki coloured cotton drill and featuring a button fly and belt loops. As well as this they feature straight slash pockets to each and green plastic buttons as used from 1944 onwards, although this pattern dates from after the Second World War.

Inside the shorts the original label is still present and bears the title 'Shorts, Khaki Drill R. M.' and the Vocab number of 71772.  The size is stated as No. 2 and the word 'Devonport' is also present which refers to the Naval base.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 30" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 15 1/4"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 3 1/2"
Outside leg - 13 1/2"
Cuff - 16 1/2"

The shorts are in very good condition for their age and do not appear to have been issued or worn. They are very clean overall and are still very wearable and display. Please bear in mind however that these are a pair of vintage shorts which may have small issues consummate with their age.

A nice pair of post war British Army shorts in good condition.
