An original pair of 1940s white cotton drill shorts
These shorts are typical of those made during the Second World War and into the early 1950s. They could have been purchased by an officer of the Royal Navy as they wore white cotton drill shorts during this period. The shorts feature a button fly and a deep waistband. A large flap fastens across the wearers waist which is a style quite often encountered. The shorts feature slash pockets to each hip and no rear pockets.
The short will fit around a 28" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 14"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 7 1/4"
Outside leg - 20 1/4"
Cuff - 14 1/2"
The shorts are in reasonable condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. There is some staining as can be seen in the pictures but this may be removed with cleaning.
A good pair of mid century shorts with some great details!
