A scarce original pair of RAF blue grey coloured puttees which were made by 'Fox' which date from between 1918 and the late 1930s.

This pattern of puttess is the same as those worn by officers of the British Army but made from a blue-grey coloured wool. They were introduced with the formation of the RAF and blue uniforms were introduced. They were intended to be worn with breeches and would have been a common sight in the early days of the RAF as well as throughout the 1920s, becoming less popular by the mid 1930s and ceasing to be worn by the outbreak of WW2.

These examples were made by 'Fox' who were a prolific manufacturer of puttess from British officers. Both the left and right puttee feature the classic Fox label which was used for many years.

The puttees are in used condition with signs of age and wear. There is staining/fading throughout and one has notable areas of damage to one side although this would be hidden when worn. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage item which have some flaws.

A rare piece of early RAF uniform!
