An original pair of women's black leather ankle boots which were made in the French city of Limoges.
This style of boots was extremely popular with women in the late Victorian period through to the 1920s and these boots could date from anywhere in that time frame. They are made from a soft, black coloured leather and feature a long vamp which is typical of boots from this period. The original cotton ribbon laces are still present and the sole is marked with the maker's name of 'Dutour Fils'.
The boots measure 9 3/4" long and 3" at the widest point of the sole (taken outside of the boot).
The condition of the boots could be described as deadstock as they have clearly never been worn. They still had their cardboard inserts inside from the factory which I removed to photograph the boots. The soles show no signs of wear which confirm these as new old stock. There are some scuffs to the leather etc and other signs of age etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A typical pair of early 20th Century ladies boots in unworn condition.
