An original United States Marine Corps issue M65 field jacket dating from the Vietnam War.
Officially designated 'Coat, Man's, Field With Hood, Nylon Cotton Sateen, OG 107' - this has to be one of the most iconic military jackets of all time. Seen in countless films such as Taxi Driver, Terminator, True Romance and First Blood just to name a few; it has become the most classic of all military jackets and is instantly recognisable.
This example is a genuine US Military issue jacket and not a later civillian copy. This is obvious from the original label which is still present and bares the DSA number, which appears to show 1965 as the year of manufacture. It also states the size as 'Medium Short' with a chest of 37-41" and height up to 67".
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Length - 31 1/2"
The jacket features the correct period 'Scovill' to the front which functions well. The collar also features a smaller 'Scovill' zipper which opens and closes the hood pocket.
The front left breast pocket bares the USMC marking making this particular jacket more interesting than your average run-of-the-mill example.
The jacket is in good condition for its age and still has plenty of wear left in it. There are some marks etc which can be seen in the photographs. Please remember that this is a vintage item and will have wear etc consummate with its age.
All in all a nice, original and authentic Vietnam era combat jacket with USMC history.
