An original pair of M1951 Pattern United States Army Combat Trousers dating from 1956 and in good condition.
Officially designated 'Trousers, Men's, Cotton, Wind Resistant Sateen', these trousers were part of the new M51 uniform system introduced in the early 1950s. Taking its influence from the M1943 combat uniform, these trousers were the next generation in combat clothing produced for the American Military. Made from a green coloured cotton sateen, the trousers feature flapped pockets to the front and cargo pockets to the side of each leg. The knees feature pleats which allow them to expand when the wearer bends their knee and there are two more flapped pockets to the rear. The fly fastens with a brass 'Rapid' branded zipper and there are belt loops and waist adjusters about the waist. Pull cords are fitted to the cuff of each leg to allow the cuff to be drawn in around the boot.
Inside the trousers the original marking are still present. The size is marked as regular medium and the date of 13 November 1956 s also present. When laid flat the trousers measure -
Waist - 17"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 20 1/2"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 10"
