An original United States Navy A2 Deck Jacket dating from the 1960s or 1970s.

This pattern of jacket was introduced into service with the USN in the 1960s and replaced the earlier N1 Deck Jacket which was issued throughout the Second World War and the 1950s. This updated design is made from a Heavy Cotton Back Satin which is 100% cotton and features a nylon fur lining rather than the earlier alpaca used on the NI1 jackets. A brass 'General' branded zipper fastens the front and is hidden behind a fly front which fastens with buttons. Slash pockets are located to the front and there is a patch pocket to the chest which closes with a press snap. Waist adjusters are located to the hip, one of which has been shortened. Wool cuffs are found inside each sleeve as illustrated in picture 4.

Inside the jacket there is a hanging loop at the neck (detached at one end) below which is the original label which is washed out leaving few details legible.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a  36" - 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 27 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition overall and displays well. It is still very wearable but does have some signs of wear and age. A couple of teeth are missing at the bottom of the zipper which means it has to be treated carefully to get the zip to start. There is also some fraying to the woolen cuffs and other signs of age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a prew worn, vintage jacket which has some small flaws commensurate with age.

A good original Vietnam War period deck jacket.
