An original Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's shirt in fair condition.
This pattern of shirt was introduced around the end of the Second World War and most likely dates from the late 1940s or early 1950s. It is made from an end-on-end cotton which is a darker shade to those worn by officers. It features a full button front, barrel cuffs and a neck band collar. Inside the collar the maker's name of 'Faulat Belfast' is present as is the stores code which starts with 22B and the size which appears to be 3.
The shirt will suit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
Length - 32"
Collar - 14 1/2"
The shirt is in reasonable condition and is totally wearable. There is some staining and marks as can be seen in the pictures. Please take time to study these before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.
A hard to find mid Century British military shirt.
