An original 1966 dated RAF officers shirt in good condition which is in good wearable condition.
This pattern of shirt was worn by RAF officers for many years. It is the full buttoning front style which began to come into use during the Second World War before eventually replacing the half-placket style completely by the 1960s. This example features a neckband collar to which a detachable collar can be fitted. The cuffs are French style which fold back on themselves and are worn with cufflinks.
Inside the shirt the original markings are stamped to the inside of the neckband. This includes the maker's initials of 'JH/S', the 1966 date and the size of 15 1/2.
The shirt is a smaller size which will fit someone of around a 36" to 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 35 1/2"
Collar - 15 1/2"
The sleeve measurement is taken with the cuff folded out. If the cuff is doubled back in the correct manner it will measure roughly 2 1/2" shorter.
The shirt is in good condition but does have some limited signs of wear and use as well as a couple of marks to the rear which are illustrated in picture 7. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned, vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
Overall a nice original shirt which is in good wearable condition.
