Original 1950s RAF Officer's Collarless Shirt

An original blue end on end cotton collarless shirt made in the 1950s for the RAF or the police force. 

This pattern of shirt was worn by officers in the RAF as well as by the police and the Fire Brigade. End on end cotton shirts were used by both throughout the Second World War with this example being a later, 1950s version with a full buttoning front. It features a neckband collar to which a detachable collar can be fitted. The chest features patch pockets and loops are fitted to each shoulder to which epaulettes can be fitted. The cuff is barrel style and fastens with a single button. 

Inside the neck of the shirt the original sanforized label is still present. The date is marked directly to the neckband which appears to read '195', the last numeral missing but dating the shirt to the 1950s. The neckband size is also marked which appears to read '16'.

The shirt is a larger size which will fit up to a 42" chest well. When laid flat the shirt measures - 

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 22 3/4"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 39"
Collar - 16"

The shirt is in used condition but is still wearable. It has various white paint stains which are reflected in the price. Please study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item.
