Original 1950 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers - Size 5

Original 1950 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers - Size 5

Code: 53168

SOLD

A good original pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers made in 1950 and identical to wartime pattern.

This pattern of trousers came into use with the RAF during the 1930s and stayed in service well into the 1950s. The trousers feature a fishtail back, a slash pocket to each hip and black plastic brace buttons around the waist to which braces can be attached.

The original label is still present inside the trousers and is bright and legible. It states the size as No.5 which will fit a 31-32" waist and a 28 1/2" leg. The manufacturer's name is marked as 'Slater & Co'. Below this is the 1950 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. To the right of the label the War Department acceptance stamp is visible in yellow and is surmounted by the letter 'B' denoting 1950 as the year of issue.

The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15 1/2"
Inside leg - 26"

The trousers are in good condition with some small areas of staining and a couple of very small moth nips which have been repaired. Overall they are a very wearable pair of trousers but do have a couple of small issues consummate with age.

All in all a good pair of RAF OA trousers dating from just after the Second World War. They would fill a gap in a collection or could be used for re-enactment.
