A good original pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers made in 1950 which are identical to wartime pattern.
This pattern of trousers came into use with the RAF during the 1930s and stayed in service well into the 1950s. The trousers feature a fishtail back, a slash pocket to each hip and black plastic brace buttons around the outside of the trousers. The fly fastens with buttons which are also black plastic.
The original label is still present inside the trousers and is bright and legible. It states the size as No.11 which is designed to fit a 32-33" waist. The manufacturer's name is marked as 'Slater & Co'. below which is the 1950 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The trousers will suit someone of around a 31" waist and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 15 1/2"
Inside leg - 29"
The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is a small moth nip to the front which is illustrated in picture 4 and another hole to the rear illustrated in picture 8. These could both be repaired. Overall they are a very wearable pair of trousers but do have a couple of small issues consummate with age.
All in all a good pair of RAF OA trousers dating from just after the Second World War. They would fill a gap in a collection or could be used for re-enactment.
