An original 1949 dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No 8.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1948 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass Kings crown RAF buttons and has leading aircraftman insignia fitted to each shoulder. A single eagle badge is fitted to the top of the right shoulder which is the early WW2 embroidered pattern. This is evidence of where another was fitted to the other sleeve but has since been removed.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No. 8 which is designed to fit someone with a 37-38" chest and 34" waist. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'B. Bloom Ltd' below which is the 1949 date and the War Department broad arrow. The original owner has added his RAF serial number which reads 4063624.

The tunic is in good condition with some limited signs of wear and age. It displays well and is still a nice, deep coloured and not washed or faded out. It is still totally wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A good original WW2 pattern jacket complete with its original label.
