An original 1948 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic Dated 1948 and in a size No7.
Whilst this tunic is dated 1948 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.
This particular example features brass Kings crown RAF buttons and has evidence of where shoulder eagles and leading air craftsman insignia was previously fitted.
Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No.7 which will fit someone of around a 35-36" chest and 32" waist. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'H. Edgard & Sons, Ltd' below which is the 1948 date and the War Department broad arrow.
The tunic is in worn condition and has suffered from moth damage. This has been reflected in the price but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
Whilst not the best example RAF serge wool is relatively easy to invisibly mend meaning this could suit a collector or re-enactor who doesn't mind a bit of a project!
