An original Royal Air Force MK2 Cold Weather Flying Jacket which dates from the 1960s.

This pattern of jacket was only made for a short period in the 1960s before being replaced with the DPM camouflage MK.2A version in the early 1970s. It shares many details with the ubiquitous MK3 Cold Weather Flying Jacket which came into issue after this including the hood which is stored inside the jacket and is accessed through a zipped opening to the reverse of the collar. The jacket is made from a heavyweight green coloured cotton sateen material and features D-shaped pockets to the chest which fasten with zips. The front also fastens with a 'NZ' branded zipper which denotes 'Newey' as the maker and the same brand has been used for the pockets. A fly front covers the main zip and fastens with plastic buttons. More pockets are located to the skirt which also fasten with the same style of buttons. Epaulettes are located to each shoulder and fasten with velcro whilst more velcro can be found at the cuff.

Inside the jacket features a partial lining and a poachers pocket to the skirt. Patch pockets are fitted to the chest and there is a drawstring at the waist and another along the bottom hem. The original label is still present and bears the RAF Stores reference number of 22C/1300567 below which is the size of 6 and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The jacket is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has some signs of wear and use and staining to the left sleeve but overall it displays well.

A nice original jacket with a good clear label and loads of great details.
