Original French Army Model 1935 Canvas Overall Trousers - Size 2

Code: 54382

SOLD

An original pair of French Army Model 1935 canvas over trousers as worn during WW2 as well as in the post-war period.

This pattern was introduced in the middle of the 1935s for use with tank crews, armoured car crews, motorcyclists and similar. They saw extensive use during the Battle for France in 1940 as well as post-war which is when this pair was manufactured. They are often referred to as 'Pants Cachou'.

The trousers are made from a green coloured duck cotton canvas which was used for workwear in France during this period due to its hard wearing nature. Two patch pockets are located to the front of the trousers and a waist belt is located above this which is permantly stitched to the rear of the trousers and fastens with a wire buckle. The fly fastens with buttons which are metal and marked 'Equipment Militaires' to the front which are often found on French military items from this period.

Inside the trousers the original stamps are still present and include the size of 2 as well as the Armee Francais marking. THe maker's name of 'Ragua Paris' is also present.

Like all overall trousers, these are designed to be worn as an outer layer over the top of trousers which means they are cut in an oversized manner. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 18"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 29"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 10 1/4"

The trousers are in excellent condition and appear to have never been issued or worn. They display extremely well and are still very wearable but please take time to study the pictures as they are a vintage pair of trousers which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice original pair of wartime pattern trousers in excellent condition.
