An original pair of French Army Model 1947 Trousers dating from the late 1950s to early 1960s.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst others. These trousers are the fourth pattern which are referred to as the 1959 modification and were the fourth and final pattern produced.
The trousers are made from a heavy weight, hard wearing herringbone twill cotton and feature slash pockets to the hips, cargo pockets to the side of each leg, tabs at the bottom of the legs and two rear pockets. Green-grey coloured buttons are fitted throughout whilst belt loops can be found at the waist. The knees feature reinforced sections which are made from the same herringbone twill material.
The trousers will suit around a 27" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 13 1/2"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 42 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition with signs of previous wear and use. Overall they display reasonably well and are totally wearable with some marks and staining etc. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item and may have small issues consummate with their age.
A nice pair of post-war French military trousers!
