An original pair of French Army Model 1947 Trousers dating from the early 1950s and in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst others. These trousers are the second pattern which are referred to as the 1950 modification and were the second pattern produced between 1950 and 1953.
The trousers are made from a heavy weight, hard wearing twill cotton and feature slash pockets to the hips, cargo pockets to the side of each leg, tabs at the bottom of the legs and two rear pockets. Early pattern stamp metal buttons are fitted which bear the words 'Equipment Militaries' whilst belt loops can be found at the waist. The knees feature reinforced sections which are made from the same herringbone twill material.
The trousers will suit around a 35" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 17 1/2"
Rise - 15 3/4"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 29"
Outside leg - 42 1/2"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition with no real signs of previous wear and use. Overall they display well and are totally wearable still with some light marks etc. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item and may have small issues consummate with their age.
A nice pair of post-war French military trousers!
