An original pair of British Army Blue Drill Shorts dating from the early 1980s and in good condition.
Based on the contract number, these shorts were made between 1979 and 1984. They are made from a blue coloured cotton drill material and are a classic British design which could easily pass as being from an earlier decade. They feature a mid-rise waist, button fly and flash pockets. A single pocket is located to the rear and there are waist adjusters to each hip which can be fastened in two positions.
Inside the shorts the original label is still present and bears the title of 'Shorts Blue Drill Tropical NP' along with the size of A2 and the maker's name of 'J. Compton SOnos & Webb Ltd'. Below this is the contract number of CT4B/1898.
The shorts will suit around a 29" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 14 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 4 1/2"
Cuff - 11 1/2"
The shorts are totally wearable with some marks etc as can be seen in the pictures. Please take time to study these before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned pair of shorts with some small issues commensurate with age.
