Original Early 1950s RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 11

Code: 53378

SOLD

An original early 1950s Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in good condition and fitted with reproduction insignia.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before WW2 and was worn throughout the conflict by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and as a 'walking out' uniform. This example dates from the early 1950s but is identical to wartime tunics.

The jacket features brass King's crown RAF buttons and eagle badges to the top of each sleeve. Reproduction sergeant stripes have been fitted to each sleeve and a Signaller brevet has been added to the chest. The tunic comes complete with a matching belt which is fitted with the correct double pronged brass buckle.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is partially legible. The size of 11 is clear as is the maker's name of 'E. Egard & Sons Ltd'. The war Department broad arrow marking is also present as is the date which appears to read 195*.

The tunic is in good condition for its age and overall displays well. It shows some signs of wear and use but on the whole it is a good example. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor well and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
