An original West German Bundesgrenzschutz camouflage jacket dating from 1975.
In the post-war period the new West German Bundeswehr Army introduced this pattern of camouflage jacket which was based on those used during the Second World War. Due to its similarity to the WW2 issue jackets they proved unpopular and were discontinued eventually. The camouflage pattern is Sumpfmuster , Marsh Camo, Tan and Water pattern camouflage.
The jacket features a full buttoning front, flapped chest pockets, lower flapped pockets, long sleeves with elbow reinforcement and buttoning cuff detail. There is a large pocket to the upper left sleeve which has had the flap removed and inside the jacket features a small dressing pocket. The rear of the jacket features metal D rings which equipment can be attached to as well as metal belt hangers.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the maker's name of 'Val. Mehler Ag. Fulda' as well as the 1975 date.
The jacket is a larger size which will suit around a 44" chest, depending on desired fit. It is designed to be roomy and oversized like all combat jackets and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 25 1/2"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 26 1/2"
Shoulders - 20 1/2"
Length - 33"
The jacket is in good condition overall with only limited signs of wear and use. There is a hole to the left side of the waist which is illustrated in the last picture. It displays well and is still very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn combat jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A great looking camouflage jacket which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection!
