Code: 53480

SOLD

An original pair of 1962 pattern Tartan Trews dating from the late 1960s and in a size No. 5.

This pattern of trousers was worn by Scottish regiments with each regiment having their own tartan. These examples feature the tartan of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) who were formed in 1881.

The trousers are made from a wool which features the tartan pattern along with a button fly which fastens with black plastic buttons, typical of British Army trousers from the mid-Century period. Inside the waistband there are buttons to which braces can be attached and waist adjusters made from the same material as the rest of the trousers are located at each hip. Slash pockets can be found to each side seam and there are no rear pockets.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and bears the title of 'Trew No. 5a (1962 pattern). The size is stated as 5 and the maker's name of 'Moore Taggart & Co., Ltd' is also present. Below this is the A/78 contract number which dates the trousers to the late 1960s.

The trousers will suit a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 27"
Outside leg - 39 1/2"
Cuff - 8 1/2"

Overall the trousers are in very good condition and are still very wearable. There is a small hole to the front leg as shown in picture 9 but this is only noticeable under close inspection. They display very well but please bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of trousers complete with their original label!
