An original West German Bundesgrenzschutz camouflage jacket dating from 1960.
In the post-war period the new West German Bundeswehr Army introduced this pattern of camouflage jacket which was based on those used during the Second World War. Due to its similarity to the WW2 issue jackets they proved unpopular. The camouflage pattern is Sumpfmuster , Marsh Camo, Tan and Water pattern camouflage.
The jacket features a full buttoning front, flapped chest pockets, lower flapped pockets, long sleeves with elbow reinforcement and buttoning cuff detail. Inside the jacket there is a small dressing pocket located to the skirt (picture 6). As well as this the original stamp is still present and to the interior pocket and bears the date of 3/60. The maker's name of the size of 48 are also present.
The jacket is a larger size which will suit around a 42" chest, depending on desired fit. It is designed to be roomy and oversized like all combat jackets and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 17 1/4"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 29 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition overall with signs of wear and use. It displays well and is still very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn combat jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A great looking camouflage jacket which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection!
