An original Dutch Army Leather Jerkin dating from 1958 which is in good condition.
This leather jerkin came into issue with the British Army during the Great War and stayed in service throughout the Second World War and well into the post-war years. The design was copied by both the Dutch and the Belgians post-war, with this being one such example. It is made from a very dark brown coloured leather and has a four button front. The interior is lined with a caramel coloured moleskin materials and the original stamps are still present and are bright and legible. This includes the 1958 date and the size stamp of 1. The original owner has fitted an interior pocket which is a nice period addition.
The jerkin is a small size which will suit around a 36" chest, depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Length - 29"
The jerkin is in good condition for its age with no real signs of wear and use. It displays well and still appears to be strong and wearable. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have very small flaws commensurate with age.
Altogether a good example of a Dutch jerkin which is nice with the moleskin lining.
