An original 1950s French Army light pattern M47 tunic in worn condition.
This is the TTA Model 1947 lightweight pattern tunic with the 1952 modification of reinforcing patches to the shoulders. This manufacturer has added these with a pleasing curved shape. The tunic is similar to the standard M47 tunic but does not feature the lower pockets, hence the lightweight designation. This allows it to be worn tucked in as a shirt.
The tunic is made from a heavy weight, green coloured herringbone cotton drill and features a full button front. The front of the jacket features chest pockets and the cuffs fasten with chocolate brown buttons. The same buttons are used to fasten the front, the pockets and to secure the epaulettes.
Inside the jacket the original markings are present to the interior and feature the maker's name and the size of 2. The jacket will fit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22 3/4"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Length - 28"
Shoulders - 19 3/4"
The jacket is in well worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has a piece of material added to the collar where it has worn through which is clearly a period repair. There are also some rips around the sleeves as detailed in the pictures and other signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
