An original pair of French Army Model 1947 Trousers dating 1950s and in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the immediate post-war years and saw service in Indochina and the Algerian War amongst others.
The trousers are made from a heavy weight, hard wearing cotton and feature slash pockets to the hips and there is a single cargo pocket to the left leg. Originally there would have been a second cargo pocket to the right leg but this has been removed and a smaller spanner pocket fitted in its place which has been neatly done. Belt loops are fitted around the waist and chocolate brown coloured buttons are fitted throughout, as are often found during this period.
The trousers will fit someone of around a 36" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 18 1/2"
Rise - 5"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 311/2"
Outside leg - 44"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in very good condition with only very limited signs of previous wear and use. They are still very wearable pair of trousers and present well. They are however a vintage, pre-worn item and may have small issues consummate with their age.
A nice pair of post-war French military trousers!
